Carey is a South African certified lactation consultant who has spent the past ten years helping moms and parents reach their breastfeeding goals.
Her journey began with the premature birth of her first child — an unexpected and traumatic experience that opened her eyes to a gap in care: mothers weren’t getting the support they needed around birth, the neonatal ICU, pumping, and breastfeeding in general.
When her second baby also arrived prematurely, Carey was ready. She knew which pump to use, how and when to use it, and drew on everything she’d learned the first time round, putting her in a far stronger position to feed and breastfeed successfully.
Carey has lived through the neonatal ICU, learned to breastfeed a premature baby, and navigated breastfeeding both at work and at home. That firsthand experience gives her a deep understanding of the real challenges mothers face around breastfeeding.
Today, she uses that knowledge and experience to build a supportive system that helps mothers reach their own breastfeeding goals. This includes hospital visits to help moms latch their babies and breastfeed, online consultations, antenatal talks and online classes on preparing to breastfeed and pump, and individual one-on-one sessions.
Carey works with Ameda breast pumps because they’re code compliant and genuinely support mothers on their breastfeeding journeys, offering excellent quality, hospital-grade pumps with great warranties and innovative products.
